A new video shows the choreography of We Don’t Talk About Bruno

Contrary to what the song suggests, everyone is talking about “We Don’t Talk About Bruno”. The song of Encanto, Disney’s latest animated musical, broke records and became an absolutely contagious earworm. True to Disney tradition, there’s a multilingual version of the song – but Lin-Manuel Miranda’s catchy lyrics aren’t the only memorable thing about the song.

One of the big differences between Encanto and previous Disney musicals is the film’s use of choreography, something directors Byron Howard and Jared Bush wanted to do to “evolve the Disney musical”. The filmmakers brought in choreographers to block out the scenes and eventually translated them into animation. A new video from Disney shows the actual dancers side-by-side and the final animated sequence – which is also all the more impressive for being done in one take.

Encanto follows a magical family in Colombia, where each member is blessed with a miraculous gift – except for the brave Mirabel. When magic is threatened, Mirabel sets out to save it by delving into secrets and family ties. The film premiered in theaters on November 24 and hit Disney Plus on Christmas Eve.
