The Marvel / DC / Todd McFarlane team that started with the surprising Tribute to the cover of the Batman variant # 118 To Todd McFarlane’s Spider-Man # 1 continues this week with a surprising Marvel / DC / Todd McFarlane crossover.
Rising cover artist Björn Barends drew Batman, Wonder Woman, and Captain America – or at least kids wearing heroes’ Halloween costumes – in Not One But of them Covers of Image Comics variants. King Spawn # 3 on October 20 and Spawn # 323 on October 27 will both have cover variations featuring the superhero-clad kids having both fun at Billy Kincaid (aka the man in the ice cream) and the other at the Offender’s House.

“Since Halloween is such a beautiful holiday, I not only sent the kids to ring the doorbell of the clown’s house, but also Billy Kincaid’s house to bring me candy.” Barends writes on Instagram.
It’s especially scary to see kids at Kincaid’s doorstep, because in Spawn’s comics he’s not only a supervillain, but he also specializes in kidnapping and murdering children.
“Just in time for Halloween!” McFarlane tweets. “This blanket is what nightmares are made in! “
While these covers are evocative, it doesn’t seem like they are allusions to a larger King Spawn story or Spawn’s main book. It seems like a fun setting for a cover variant, throwing in those thinly veiled versions of DC and Marvel heroes – something McFarlane’s Spawn comics have done in the past.
King Spawn # 3 goes on sale October 20, followed by Spawn # 323 on October 27.
