Five new TV shows based on IDW Publishing’s comics and graphic novels are in development, including HBO Max and Cartoon Network. Deadline reports that IDW Entertainment is developing the five series for Anima Studios, Cartoon Network Studios, HBO Max, Universal Content Productions (UCP), Universal International Studios and Warner Bros. Television. The shows come from comics and graphic novels published by IDW Publishing and Top Shelf Productions that represent different genres, so there should be something for everyone to check out when they hit TVs and mobile devices. Some of the series originated from IDW’s Originals initiative, which included projects from alumni Batman scribe Scott Snyder, John Ridley and G. Willow Wilson.
“IDW and Top Shelf Originals represent some of the most creative, artistic and unique stories out there,” Paul Davidson, IDW’s executive vice president, Entertainment, said in a statement. “Not only are we excited to share this incredible list with the industry, we are even more excited to partner with these great partners to bring them to the public. This is just the first step in leveraging our strong library of originals and adapt them into compelling series, feature films and podcasts with the industry’s leading storytellers and content creators.”
“At IDW, our commitment is to continue to build on our legacy by having our entertainment and publishing divisions work in tandem to bring a wide range of projects to the masses across multiple platforms,” said Ezra Rosensaft, CEO of IDW. Media Holdings. “This provides an unprecedented opportunity for our creative community to extend their intellectual property across many verticals. We are also delighted to see that some of our new originals, launched as recently as April, are already resonating across the ‘industry.”
IDW Entertainment is also collaborating with Cartoon Network for a soon-to-be-announced anime project. The full list of TV series from IDW Entertainment is below:
