After the tragic death of Chadwick Boseman, it’s impossible to think of anyone else replacing the actor as T’Challa in black panther 2. The actor starred as T’Challa in four Marvel films, including Black Panther.
The massive 2018 hit movie made Boseman everyone’s favorite, and part two was confirmed shortly after its release. However, things changed when fan favorite T’Challa, after suffering from cancer, died at the age of 43 on August 28, 2020.
It was an immeasurable loss to the Marvel Cinematic Universe and the actor’s fans around the world. According to sources expressing their grief, Ryan Coogler, co-writer and director of the first film, said:
“I’ve spent the last year planning, imagining and writing words to tell him we weren’t meant to see him. It leaves me broken knowing that I won’t be able to watch another close-up of him on instructor or walk up to him and ask for another take.”
Fans can’t think of the Boseman redesign, so let’s see if there will be any changes to the storyline or if someone will take over and give us our new Black Panther.

What happens in black panther 2 without T’Challa?
First, it’s obvious fans are wondering if T’Challa, or Black Panther, dies in the Marvel comics? Fortunately, T’Challa from Earth-616 did not meet such a fate. However, he became unstable and attacked the Jabari tribe due to Iron Fist’s aneurysm.
After that, T’Challa couldn’t live with the fact that he tried to kill the people he loved, so he left Wakanda and went into hiding.
Therefore, it’s possible that Black Panther’s sequel in the MCU will follow a similar path. They could show T’Challa going somewhere on a mission or getting killed in a fight while protecting his homeland. If that’s not the scene, then several speculations have been made regarding worthy characters who could be considered his successors.
One name that comes to mind is Shuri from Letitia Wright, T’Challa’s sister, trained by him. Interestingly, in the comics she was once Black Panther. She’s also smart enough to take the title and be Wakanda’s savior.

Other than that, two other names seem fitting to be T’Challa’s successor, and those are none other than Nakia and Okoye.
Nakia, played by Lupita Nyong’o, is a brave warrior who possesses all the qualities that make her the perfect fit for the role. As a member of War Dogs, she often goes on missions, where she has learned to survive even the worst of situations.
Okoye, played by Danai Gurira, is T’Challa’s staunch ally. Like Nakia, she’s a formidable warrior, and her loyalty to Wakanda makes her an even better option. She proved her dedication despite being forced to follow Erik Killmonger’s orders when he overthrew T’Challa and took the throne.

Later, Okoye helped T’Challa successfully take the throne by defeating Killmonger. So, you could say that many existing MCU characters can continue Boseman’s legacy.
However, it’s not easy to put a pin on a specific character to take the lead in the next film. Let us know what you think of all of this in the comments section.
