The first game from former animation studio Ember Lab launches tomorrow on its spirit-saving adventure. Kena: Bridge Of Spirits really looks like it’s made by an animation house, with overly adorable little sidekick characters and everything. Ahead of tomorrow’s launch, Ember Lab presented another trailer to take a look at a few more of the great spiritual bosses Kena will be putting to rest with the photo mode that you’ll need to take full advantage of all that big screen. inspired character design.

Kena: Bridge Of Sprits is for the most part a familiar third-person action game. Bow and staff wielding spirit guide Kena uses her unlockable magical abilities to battle groups of forest enemies throughout her journey with a little lightness and climbing. The greatest minds she has to fight are the main course, of course. These are longer encounters against angry dead as his troop of little Rot companions like Pikmin help him tackle with special skills like stun enemies or hammer them with the Rot power. The new launch trailer here gives a glimpse of other great villains and a bit of story context as well.

Boss fights also seem to be familiar action stuff: the one where you’ll jump over periodic waves of flames while attacking your target, the boss with a bow where you’ll have to hide behind trees to avoid big attacks. , etc. . The guy with the shiny whip also looks neat.

Kena was on Colm’s top ten September games list to watch this month and that easily made my personal list too. I had the opportunity to take a tour with a first section of the game several months ago and I was pretty into it.

Since my time with her, Kena was comfortably familiar. I was initially worried that Ember Lab would end up with a game that looks good but stumbles in combat, but from what I’ve been able to try, they blocked the landing. Kena doesn’t seem to be reinventing the adventure and action wheel, and that looks great on me. I fought one of the first bosses with a giant club that I had to dodge, figure out how to stun it in place, then shoot a weak spot in the back with my bow. You know the trick. Classic action with a fresh and adorable face.

Speaking of adorable, there’s also this photo mode they just announced. I usually don’t bother to take pictures, but if I ever had to, Kena would be the one. Kena’s Spirit Rot boyfriends in their cute unlockable hats seem well worth stopping for photos, and her woodland surroundings are charming as well. Ember Lab also highlights their “cheese!” button in photo mode which has characters pulling various personal poses. “Many characters have multiple poses, so you can take a wide variety of fun photos in one location,” Ember Lab said. You can see the trailer below.

Kena: Bridge Of Spirits is scheduled to launch tomorrow, September 21 on the Epic game store, and PlayStations, for $ 40.
