Visual effects and animation studio Cinesite has hired former Laika and NBCU executive Bradley Wald as his first animation COO. In this newly created role, Wald will lead Cinesite’s animation business operations in Vancouver, Montreal and London.

Based in Los Angeles, Wald joined the company earlier this month and reports to CEO Antony Hunt. Cinesite’s animation slate includes new Nigerian sci-fi series Iwaju for Disney Animation and Kugali Media of Nigeria; it will premiere in 2023 on Disney+. The company is also working on an animated adventure film hitpigbased on characters from the author’s picture book Berkeley Breathed Pete and pickles.

Prior to joining Cinesite, Wald worked at animation studio Laika as Chief Financial Officer and Vice President of Business Operations. He managed the release of stop motion feature films Kubo and the two ropes and Faded away Link and has worked on television adaptations of the company’s films, as well as overseeing its business in consumer products, brand extensions and live exhibitions.

Wald also previously worked at NBCUniversal’s C-suite, where he oversaw brand expansion and commercial activities for the series. Downton Abbey in Distribution and Home Entertainment as SVP of Business Development and Operations.
