Kochi: In order to train students in computer programming and animation, Kerala Infrastructure for Technology and Education (KITE) in Ernakulam has organized the annual school-level camps for Little Computer Clubs Kites. The camp focused on designing various computer games and animated films, etc.
Little Kites IT Club is a unique initiative of KITE, which has over one million student members. Through the project, students receive intense training in areas such as animation, cybersecurity, Malayalam computing, hardware and electronics, etc.
About 5,933 students, members of Little Kites clubs from 183 schools under the district’s general education department, attended the camp on Saturday. Camp members were selected through a software-based test conducted to check students’ aptitude in subjects such as animation, games, and more.
KITE Ernakulam District Coordinator, PN Sajimon said the camp was designed to engage students in activities that will help them explore programming and facilitation possibilities. For this, the students were invited to participate in the creation of a face detection game and a car racing game. In this activity, students are to use Scratch, an offline editing app platform, and create games.
Students, who have performed well in various activities given at the camp, will be selected for the camp at the sub-district level.
