Her Majesty The Queen has been on the throne for 70 years, which has seen far more ups, downs and everything in between than any other world leader or monarch.

Since coming to the throne in 1953, Queen Elizabeth has seen 14 prime ministers lead the country and kept around 30 Corgis in her lifetime.

From fundraising attempts to repair Windsor Castle after it burned down in 1992, where the Royal Family welcomed the public to Buckingham Palace to raise money, to the 20,000 birthday cards the Queen received at On her 80th birthday in 2006, there were many notable moments during Elizabeth Windsor’s 70-year reign.

Here, the Mail’s legendary cartoonist Mac takes you on a journey down memory lane to look back at some of the ups and downs of the monarchy ahead of next weekend’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations…
