Almost seven years ago, we learned that Jordan Peele and Keegan-Michael Key were teaming up with Henry Selick, best known as the director of A Nightmare Before Christmas on a stop-motion animated film. To put this into context: at the time the film was first revealed, Peele get out was still two years away.

Finally, in 2022, it seems that the film will see the light of day. Listen, I know stop-motion is a time-consuming process, but it took time. long time to do.

The movie is called Wendell and savage and in addition to voicing one of the two main characters, Peele also wrote the film. Key plays the other lead role, and the teaser video below from Netflix releasing the film reveals the rest of the talented cast, including Lyric Ross, Angela Bassett and James Hong.

Here is the official synopsis of the film:

From the deliciously wicked minds of Henry Selick and Jordan Peele, comes Wendell & Wild, an animated tale about scheming demon brothers Wendell (Keegan-Michael Key) and Wild (Peele) – who enlist the help of 13-year-old Kat Elliot – a tough teenager with a load of guilt – to summon them to the Land of the Living. But what Kat asks for in return leads to a brilliantly bizarre and comedic adventure like no other, an animated fantasy that defies the law of life and death, all told through the artisanal art of stop motion.

Even if the script doesn’t suit you, you have to admit it: the combination of filmmakers behind A Nightmare Before Christmas and get out it looks great. How can you do not do you want to see what they do together? Wendell and savage premieres on Netflix in October.
