The next series in the beloved Yellowstone the franchise has finally arrived. Fans fell in love with Taylor Sheridan Yellowstone over the past several years, helping to make Paramount Network the most-watched television show on cable. Now, finally, there is another chapter in the story. This one, however, takes place about a century and a half before John Dutton’s story. 1883 takes place exactly as the title suggests, delivering a full Western tale of the original Dutton’s who settled in Montana.

Fans of Yellowstone were waiting for the premiere of 1883 for some time and this wait is finally over. The first two episodes of 1883 aired on Paramount + on Sunday morning. The first episode will also air on Paramount Network on Sunday night following the new episode of Yellowstone. Next week, the third episode of the series will be added to Paramount + and the second episode will air on Paramount Network. Going forward, however, the episodes will air exclusively on the streaming service.

1883 tells the story of James and Margaret Dutton as they head west to try and start a new life for themselves. The on-screen married couple are played by a couple of country music megastars who are also married. Tim McGraw and Faith Hill play side by side as Migration Duttons, allowing their true relationship to be part of these new characters.

McGraw and Hill aren’t the only big stars to play big roles in 1883. Billy Bob Thornton plays an American Marshall named Jim Courtright in the series. Longtime Western fans will be delighted to see tomb stoneSam Elliott works alongside the Duttons throughout 1883. Elliott plays a wagon master and Civil War veteran named Shea Brennan, who helps the family on their journey west. At the start of the show, Brennan faces a pretty massive loss, and he’ll have to struggle with that as he helps run the train across the country.

Lamonica Garrett and Isabel May also performed in 1883 as a train conductor and Dutton’s daughter, Elsa, respectively. Audie Rick, Marc Rissmann, Eric Nelsen, and James Landry Hebert are all series regulars for the first season. Dawn Olivieri, Emma Malouff, Alex Fine, Gratiela Brancusi, Anna Flamora, Nichole Galicia, Stephanie Nur, Amanda Jaros, Noah Le Gros and Martin Sensmeier also appear in the series.

The first two episodes of 1883 are now broadcast on Paramount +.
