Disney + and Pixar Animation Studios have released the trailer for A story of sparks, the upcoming feature-length documentary that takes an intimate look at Pixar’s SparkShorts filmmaking process as two directors strive to bring their unique and personal visions of SparkShorts to the screen. The film is a Pixar and Supper Club co-production. Directed by Jason Sterman and Leanne Dare of Supper Club (Chef’s table), and produced by Sterman, Brian McGinn and David Gelb in collaboration with Pixar, A story of sparks will launch on Disney + on September 24, 2021.
Sterman says, “I think viewers will be very surprised at the amount of personal storytelling involved in the process of making a Pixar movie. A story of sparks presents Aphton Corbin (director Twenty something) and Louis Gonzales (director Nona) who ride the emotional roller coaster of stepping into a leadership role and inspiring their crews. Providing audiences with an exclusive and immersive look at the filmmakers and their films, the documentary explores the creative philosophy that makes Pixar unique.
“Like Louis and Aphton, this was our first accomplishment, so we could relate to a lot of the experiences they were having,†says Dare. “We found ourselves in the same situations trying to find our story, figure out how to lead our team and feel comfortable trusting our instincts, taking acts of faith and knowing that we will find how. to land. It helped us connect with their stories and appreciate their unique approaches to storytelling.
