BTS fans often share their love for specific BT21 characters. Jin, in particular, often shares photos of himself with his cartoon creation, which he named RJ. What is the meaning of this chilly alpaca? Here’s what we know about the creation of Line Friends.
BTS Members Collaborated With Line Friends For Their Line Of Cartoon Characters — BT21
K-pop group BTS has landed some impressive collaborations since their debut. The boy group created the “BTS Meal” with McDonald’s and appeared as global ambassadors for Louis Vuitton.
A few years after their debut, the boy band members collaborated with Line Friends to create their line of cartoon characters. In conjunction with BT21, fans can purchase BTS-themed headbands, humidors, passport cases and other items.
There are eight BT21 characters – seven representing BTS members and one dedicated to BTS’ fan base. This includes Tata (V), Mang (J-Hope), Chimmy (Jimin), RJ (Jin), Koya (RM), Cooky (Jungkook), Shooky (Suga) and Van (ARMYs).
Jin created his BT21 character, RJ
RM created a koala named Koya, while Jungkook’s pink bunny was inspired by his nickname, “Kookie.” What is the meaning of BTS Jin’s BT21 character? RJ is a little taller than the other cartoons, like a white alpaca wearing a parka.
According to Metro, “Jin had been drawing cute alpaca doodles for years before this collaboration, so he was thrilled to finally bring some to life. The other members also say that he looks like an alpaca, especially when eating.
Thanks to videos posted on the BT21 YouTube channel, fans have seen more of this character’s personality, which is not so surprisingly similar to Jin’s. As Jin hosts his live mukbang series, affectionately titled “Eat Jin,” RJ often shares his love for corndogs, udon, nachos, and everything in between.
BTS’s Jin often shares his love for RJ, even wearing it at BTS’s Permission to Dance on Stage concert.
Even while performing with other BTS members, Jin sometimes shares his love for RJ. This includes the Permission to Dance on Stage concert when Jin sported a plush BT21 character hanging from the back of his head. Later, he posted a picture of himself wearing the unique RJ accessory.
“Thanks to ARMY, I live everyday smiling/laughing”, the idol wrote, according to the translation of Twitter. “I love you, ARMY. (Line [Friends], are you watching this? I show RJ so much love).
Other BTS members occasionally use their BT21 merchandise, including Jungkook, who had a Cooky-themed cosmetic bag in a video. RM had a giant Van stuffed animal in the background of a live stream. Although everything with RJ is a win for Jin, the BTS member is sometimes “afraid” to try new products.
“Here’s one thing you don’t know about me – I prefer old things,” Jin said during an interview with Billboard. “When new technologies or new products are launched, I walk away from them first.”
