In a weekend filled with comedic conventions, weird Daredevil announcements, and a late appearance by Matrix resurrections, a surprise trailer has taken the internet by storm: the first look for Spider-Man: Through the Spider-Verse (Part 1). Admittedly, there was a warning on Friday from the producer Christophe miller, but it still turned out to be a gift in a month already filled with geek gifts like the others Spider Man movie – live action Spider-Man: No Path Home.
Through the Spider-Verse (Part 1)The teaser turned out to be a pleasant surprise. On the one hand, he ultimately offered a title for a film previously known only as “Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse 2. “Of course, no movie is produced in a vacuum, and we know a lot more about the project. At this point, the plot of Through the Spider-Verse (Part 1) is up for debate, but the teaser and the name certainly offer some clues. On the one hand, it is clear that Miles Morales (voiced by Shameik moore) will go on an adventure to other realities instead of the problem falling into its dimension. He will clearly travel on the other side the Spider-Verse. The actual images seen in the teaser confirm this, with the second half offering a very stylized take on interdimensional travel.
Meanwhile, the first half also suggests a few things. First: Miles is pinned to the ground. Presumably, it is once again outdated. We’re going to guess the problem arose at school since Miles told Gwen (Hailee Steinfeld) that his dorm at Visions Academy is much cooler than his childhood room.
Of course, she convinces him to come out as Spider-Man, and we imagine that may have something to do with his previous issues. It remains to be seen how this will tie into his multiversal adventure. But maybe Spider-Man 2099 (from the film’s first post-credit, voiced by Oscar isaac) or Suppaidaman (aka Japanese Spider-Man) will help him in this regard. This last character is based on the late 1970s Spider Man japan tv series. In this program, a man named Takuya Yamashiro gains spider powers, a costume, and a transforming robot from an alien. Yamashiro’s mission: defeat Professor Monster and the evil Iron Cross army. The character is said to be part of the movie and we can’t wait to see how all of his ideas come together. Spider-Verse proportions.
Moreover, it goes without saying that the developing relationship between Miles and Gwen will also be a continuing source of tension. She traveled through universes to find him, after all, and he never stopped drawing her.
The Spider-Verse as a frame

Part of the fun of sending Miles into the larger Spider-Verse is realizing the different interpretations of Spider-Man’s concept and setting. In fact, the film is said to rely heavily on the idea that each universe will have its own distinct look. The world of 2099, for example, is one of tall arrows and corporate autocracy. The look of the Supaidaman universe will be strongly influenced by the Tokusatsu atmosphere of the Japanese 70s. Spider Man show and similar programs.
But these are only two worlds to discover; Gwen’s world could also be on the route. If it looks like Spider-Gwen comic books by Robbi Rodriguez, it could rival Miles’ own world as a surprisingly lively place with more than a few obvious nods to the main world of Marvel Comics. Shameik Moore returns as Miles, as does Hailee Steinfeld as Gwen. Oscar Isaac will double his appearance in Into the Spider-Verse like Spider-Man 2099. Jake johnson is also set to return as Peter B. Parker, the middle-aged Spider-Man. It’s unclear if we’ll see Spider-Man Noir (Nicolas cage), Peni Parker (Kimiko glenn), or Spider-Ham (John mulaney) again, to say nothing of Aunt May (Lily tomlin) or Mary Jane Parker (Zoe Kravitz), but anything is possible. Presumably, however, Miles’ parents, Jefferson (Brian Tyree Henry) and Rio (Luna Lauren Velez) will be back, if only to found it at the start of the film.
A new addition to the distribution is Issa Rae as Jessica Drew, the original Spider-Woman. Created by Archie Goodwin and Marie Severin in 1977, the character was meant to stand out from Spider-Man, becoming a supporting character in Wolverine after the end of his own series. She bounced around various comics throughout the ’90s before writer Brian Michael Bendis added her to the Avengers roster and made the character an important player in her. Secret invasion mini-series. It will be interesting to see how she fits into the new Spider-Verse team and which of its various origins the filmmakers decide to use. In fact, there’s enough room for her to be a minor antagonist before inevitably joining Miles and the others.
But that brings us to a key question: who is the villain of Through the Spider-Verse? It is possible that Wilson Fisk (Liev schreiber) will resume his plan to shatter universes together, or will someone else emerge to threaten the fabric of reality? Oddly enough, the few Marvel characters who possess the ability to warp reality rarely associate with Spider-Man. So, for now, let’s just suggest Mephisto as a possible candidate. He’s got to debut somewhere, right? And he has a little history with Peter Parker.
Behind the Spider-Verse

On the creative side of things, co-writer and producer Phil Lord returns – but this time his usual writing partner, Christopher Miller, joins him for the screenplay alongside fellow writer David Callaham. A brand new trio of directors take the helm on the visual side with Legend of Korra vigorous Joaquim Dos Santos, Soul co-director Powers of Kemp, and Justin k thompson, production designer on the first film, succeeding Into the Spider-Verse‘s Bob persichetti, Peter ramsey, and Rodney Rothman. But if the teaser is any indication, the Oscar-winning style of the first film will remain. A long time Spider Man producers Amy Pascal and Avi Arad are there, as is producer Christine Steinberg. Ramsey is executive producer. In December of last year, Daniel Pemberton revealed that he will also be returning to provide the music for the film.
Release date, sequel and spin-off

Spider-Man: Through the Spider-Verse (Part 1) is due out on October 7, 2022 with the second part slated for 2023. But that’s not all. At the start of Part 1’s development, Pascal revealed that the film will also serve as a launching pad for Spider-Women, an animated film focused on Gwen from Steinfeld, Spider-Woman from Rae and Silk, another Spider-themed hero who is also set to get his own animated TV series from Lord and Miller. It is not known if this version will be connected to Spider-Women, which will be written by Bek Smith and directed by Lauren Montgomery, but it indicates that the Spider-Verse will be a well-established part of our cinematic calendar.
