During our participation in Licensing Expo in Las Vegas, our own Steven Weintraub got an exclusive photo of a poster with the release date of Wednesday, Tim Burtonthe long-awaited version of The Addams Family. The stars of the series Jenna Ortega as the main character and will be released this fall on Netflix.
Created by designer Charles Addams, The Addams Family has become one of Hollywood’s most beloved franchises, spawning movies, books, series, and hundreds of dolls and other merchandising items. Now, Burton intends to show a new side to the iconic characters, focusing on Morticia and Gomez’s eldest child. The spin-off series Wednesday will follow the titular character as she tries to hone her natural psychic abilities and survive school. The series is described as a young adult series, and with Burton’s taste for the dark arts, we’re all very excited to see what the show turns out to be.
While a live-action Addams Family series developed by Burton is intriguing enough, the upcoming show will feature the talent of Chistina Ricci as a regular cast member. Ricci had his breakout role as Wednesday Addams in the 1991s The Addams Family and its sequel, Addams Family Values. Many fans consider the two live-action films to be the definitive adaptation of the Addams Family, and Ricci’s return to the franchise can only mean good things for them. Wednesday.
Wednesday also stars Catherine Zeta Jones like Morticia Addams, Luis Guzman like Gomez Addams, Garfunkel and Oates‘ Riki Lindhome as Dr. Valerie Kinbott; Jamie McShane (Sons of Anarchy) as Sheriff Donovan Galpin, and isaac order as Pugsley, Wednesday’s younger brother. Gwendoline Christie (The iron Throne) will also appear as the lead actor known as Larissa Weems. The series will be written by a legendary composer Danny Elfman (Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, beetle juice).
Wednesday will be released this year, somewhere between September and November. Check out the poster with the release date below.
