The creative relationship between directors Tim Miller (“dead Pool”) and David Fincher dates back more than a decade. The first two teamed up to bring the 1980s anthology genre film to life”heavy metal“, this project eventually evolving into the famous”Love, Death + Robots.” The duo even attempted a comic book adaptation with “the moron.” An animated film based on Eric Powell comic published by Dark Horse Comics which has been sitting in development hell for ages, despite word in 2019 that 20th century workshops picked it up.

During ColliderDirectors on directing” panel to San Diego Comic-Con On Friday, Miller revealed that the comic book project rose from its grave and landed at netflix, the current home of “Love, Death + Robots”. Powell is working on the script with patrick osborne (“Love, Death + Robots”) with Osborne also set to direct the animated pic.

If you’re unfamiliar with Powell’s satirical comic, here’s a breakdown:

The series mixes both a comedic and violent atmosphere with a supernatural streak, which pits the main character against undead creatures/zombies, ghosts, ghouls, mutants, skunks with an abnormal craving for pies, squids giants, mob/gang leaders, extras. aliens, mad scientists and robots.

It originally had actors Paul Giamatti (“Billions“) and Clancy Brown (“mountaineer”) in major voice-over roles and even test footage have made their way online (see below). Although both have not been confirmed for this latest incarnation at Netflix.

Miller is also a producer of the popular and financially successful “sonic the hedgehog” films as a director Jeff Fowler, cut his teeth working on short films for Miller at his animation studio, Blur. So it’s easy to see why the animation side might take off with Blur’s recent successes.
