Wednesday headlines: Biden speaks out against gun violence after at least 22 dead in Texas school shooting

At least 19 children and two adults died Tuesday at a Texas elementary school in the worst school shooting since the Sandy Hook massacre nearly 10 years ago. The shooter, an 18-year-old high school student in Uvalde, Texas, also died.

President Biden denounced the continued gun violence across America in a seven-minute address to the nation. Just days ago, a gunman in Buffalo, NY, shot and killed 10 people in a grocery store.

“As a nation, we must ask ourselves: when in the name of God are we going to stand up to the gun lobby? When in the name of God will we do what we all know we must do? It’s been 340 – 3,448 days – 10 years since I woke up at a high school in Connecticut – an elementary school in Connecticut, where another gunman slaughtered 26 people, including 20 first graders, at Sandy Elementary School Hook.
