Cup head was released in 2017, and it quickly became a hit as an Xbox and PC exclusive title. One of the reasons for the buzz surrounding the game was its catchy art style. Recently, a talented artist came up with the idea of reimagining the main character in other iconic cartoon styles from the past.

In an article on TikTok, a user known as Austin Light shared a collection of designs based on Cup head. What made these images stand out was that each one shaped the main character based on a different era in the history of the cartoon. While the original character art was influenced by classic 1930s cartoons, these new designs managed to reinvent Cuphead in various artistic styles.

Cuphead’s first redesign featured in the video was in the 1980s. This version featured a much taller and more muscular look, as the artist said most of the cartoon characters of the time looked “unnecessarily. chamois and wore strange unique pieces ”. Following this design, an image of the Cuphead inspired by the 1990s was seen. According to Austin Light, some of the inspiration for this design came from Animans, The Ren and Stimpy Show, and Little cartoon adventures.

In the early 2000s, Cuphead featured a shorter, more secure appearance. The artist commented that the look was similar to the one found in My sponsors are magic. The video then revealed an image of Cuphead recalling the show Adventure time, with Austin Light noting that the characters in this series did not have noses. Following this image, an image of Cuphead from the 2010s was shown primarily from real-world objects. According to the artist, this particular design was based on shows such as The Amazing World of Gumball and pickle and peanut. In addition, the creator even added a photo from the Cuphead anime.

In addition to sharing these different designs for Cuphead, Austin Light revealed that the inspiration for the project came from his son. He said his son loved Cup head and frequently played the game. According to the creator, the game was like playing through a cartoon.

This video showcasing different designs for Cuphead has become popular with gamers. At the time of writing, this clip has reached over 432,000 views and 91,000 likes on TikTok. In addition to these awesome redesigns, many other videos based on drawing characters from popular video games can be found on the TikTok account for Austin Light. Some of the other characters he’s drawn include the popular Sonic the Hedgehog and Banjo and Kazooie. Plus, he’s done designs for Marvel characters and even Garfield.

With these Cuphead redesigns now complete, it will be interesting to see what other characters the creator decides to draw next. Perhaps he will try to reimagine the Devil’s Boss, the main antagonist in the game.

Cup head is available for PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One.
