A creative Pokemon fan shows off a simple animation he made that shows Ditto’s transformation process into Bulbasaur.
Over the years Pokemon introduced some unique and interesting creatures. Some pocket monsters stand out from others in their appearance, abilities, or nature. Pokémon such as Mimikyu, Mr. Mime, and Unown don’t stick in most players’ minds not because they look good, but because they’re unusual.
One Pokémon that has always stood out is Ditto. The pocket monster stands out for its ability to transform into other Pokemon and is one of the few that can learn the Transform move. Ditto is one of the most memorable creatures because of it and has always been one that many players immediately recognize.
An animator by the name of CatGutzArt on Reddit shared a short animation he made showing off the Ditto transformation. The video begins with the pocket monster in its natural state, which then goes through the transformation process. The Pokémon becomes a Bulbasaur, though it retains Ditto’s signature eyes and smile that it is known to have when it transforms. It’s a cute clip that shows one of the RPG series’ weirdest creatures at work as she tries to disguise herself.
A number of Redditors showed their appreciation for CatGutzArt’s piece with the post sitting at over 500 upvotes. One user said he liked it, while another called it very smooth. A commenter mentioned that he would like to see Ditto transform into Pokemon Hydreigon, as he would like to know if only the main head ends up with the goofy grin or all three.
CatGutzArt isn’t the only one showing Ditto some love. A Reddit user known as bbobblob shared a clip featuring a Ditto they knitted that can turn into an electrode. Bbobblob’s piece started off as the Electric-type Pokemon, though it has the Ditto face instead of the giant eyes and smile it usually sports. The video shows the designer folding the knitted piece inside out, which turned it into a pink pocket monster.
The work is interesting because it’s two very different pocket monsters stitched into one. The user was even able to retain many aspects of both creatures in one doll, such as Ditto’s face and Electrode’s two-tone body. The piece is hugely popular and currently has over 10,000 upvotes on Reddit, with a number of fans expressing how much they appreciate the work. With CatGutzArt’s animation, it’s a great way to show the Pokémon’s transformation process.
Pokemon scarlet and violet will be released on November 18 on Nintendo Switch.
