Best cosplay on day one of San Diego Comic-Con 2022

The highly anticipated San Diego Comic-Con is back.

From July 21 to July 24, the annual comic book convention is back after a two-year hiatus. People attend this great event to see their favorite actors, artists, writers and more. Many also enjoy strolling through the many kiosks available, as well as dressing up as their favorite fictional characters in a practice called cosplay.

Newsweek has a round-up of the best cosplays spotted on day one of San Diego Comic-Con 2022.

strange doctor

A participant dresses as the Marvel superhero, Doctor Strange. The last movie Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is now streaming on Disney+.

The Joker

Depicting Heath Ledger’s version of the Joker from the 2008 film, The black Knight, this cosplayer is wearing an awesome costume, as well as makeup and green hair.

Geralt de Riv and Yennefer

Geralt de Riv (Henry Cavill) and Yennefer (Anya Chalotra) are characters from the hit Netflix series, the witcherbased on the popular video game series.

Boba Fett

This young fan showed off his Boba Fett costume while standing in front of others star wars disguises.

The Mandalorian, Ahsoka Tano, Grougu and Rosalina, Jinx and Mona

The Mandalorian, Ahsoka Tano and Grogu (also known as Baby Yoda) are pictured at left as a family attends San Diego Comic Con. They are characters in star wars universe.

Another family attends as Disney’s characters The Emperor’s New Routine. The child on the man’s back is meant to represent a scene from the film where his character is carrying the villain, Yzma, in a similar transporter.

Just today, fans got a sneak peek at upcoming movies and TV shows, including Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Thieves and Teen Wolf: The Movie. Throughout the convention, fans will receive exclusive content from shows such as Dragon House, The Lord of the Rings: The Power of the Ring and more. Attendees can attend panels to take a look at some of the hottest celebrities today, including Keanu Reeves, Matt Smith, Dwayne Johnson and Zachary Levi.

In 1972, the comic book convention was named the “West Coast San Diego Comic Book Convention”, but the event changed its name in 1995 to what we know today as the “Comic-Con International: San Diego”. With hundreds of thousands of people expected throughout the long weekend, San Diego Comic-Con is the focal point of comic conventions around the world.
