Last October, the next slate of DC animated originals was revealed during DC FanDome, which included Green Lantern: Beware of my power. Today thanks to a IGN exclusive, the first trailer for the Green Lantern: Beware of my power animated film came out.
As mentioned during FanDome, this latest film is part of the current producer-supervised DC animated film canon. Butch Lukic. I’m sure most assumed the film would focus on Hal Jordan, so it’s a pleasant surprise to see John Stewart shine in his own animated feature. Fear not, because Hal Jordan does appear in the movie, but given that it looks like he’s biting him at first, that might not be very comforting. I think it’s safe to say that Stewart’s rise in popularity is largely due to his role in the Justice League animated series. With the tragic death last week of the artist neal adams who co-created the character with the writer Denny O’Neilthere’s something very poetic about seeing John Stewart in the spotlight in his own DC animated film.
Although the film is an original story, based on the trailer, it clearly draws inspiration from the Sinestro Corps Wars story from writer GL’s epic series. Geoff John. In addition to John Stewart, the trailer also features other DC characters set to appear in the film, including Martian Manhunter Hawkgirl, Vixen, Green Arrow, and Adam Strange. Presumably the actor Ike Amadi will reprise Martian Manhunter after first voicing him in Superman: the man of tomorrow.
Keep your eyes peeled for more details, including the voice cast!
Green Lantern: Beware of my power arrives on 4K, Blu-ray and digital on July 26, 2022.
In Green Lantern: Beware My Power, recently freed Marine sniper John Stewart is at a crossroads in his life, which is complicated only by receiving an alien ring that grants him the powers of the Green Lantern of Earth. Unfortunately, the ring doesn’t come with instructions – but it does come with baggage, like a horde of interplanetary killers bent on eliminating every Green Lantern in the universe. Now, with the help of the light-hearted Green Arrow, Adam Strange and Hawkgirl, this reluctant soldier must journey into the heart of a Rann/Thanagar galactic war and somehow succeed where all the other Green Lanterns failed. The film’s supervising producer is Butch Lukic.
