It’s never good when your favorite show gets canceled and Netflix has a growing reputation for being comfortable with the trigger in ax shows. 2022 has seen several high-profile cancellations at Netflix, and we’re here to list them all in August 2022.
The numbers actually show that Netflix isn’t as happy with the cancellation as some might suggest. In fact, they are in line with many of their competitors.
2021 has been a big year for Netflix cancellations, with titles like Jupiter’s Legacy, Damnand Dash and lily everything is cancelled.
There are also a lot of shows ending in 2022, like ozark, Grace and Frankie, dead to meand Family meeting. We’re not going to include them in this list because we think canceled and later seasons should be kept separate.
Cancellations of Netflix animations
Following Netflix’s first quarter results, a number of anime projects were announced to be canceled. These include cancellations of projects that were already in the wild and some that were in development.

Resident Evil reviews were not good. Many complained about how the series turned the classic horror franchise into a teen drama, which clearly meant that enough people hadn’t finished the series to warrant renewing another entry.
The show’s stats were strong for the first two weeks, but things quickly went downhill from there.
First murder

Netflix’s new LGBTQ vampire series got off to a great start, but things quickly went downhill according to stats like top 10 hourly numbers and completion data, which means after two months it’s been quietly dropped. cancelled.
Despite a decline in popularity, the show has acquired a group of passionate fans on social media who are trying to renew the show elsewhere.
Q-Force
Canceled on Netflix: Unclear but first announced June 2022

The controversial LGBTQ-focused animated series Q-Force dropped in September 2021 to a groan, meaning the show didn’t receive a second-season pick-up, but was instead quietly canceled behind the scenes. Its cancellation was eventually revealed on a podcast.

Officially, we have yet to hear about the future of The chair but by most accounts and based on performance alone, we can pretty much safely assume the show won’t return.
We don’t think it’s coming back because Sandra Oh, the show’s main star, spoke to Variety in early 2022, saying she’s guessing it’s “not happening.”
adventure beast
Canceled on Netflix: June 2022
We exclusively reported that Adventure Beast is “unlikely” to return to Netflix according to one of the project’s producers. You’d be forgiven if you hadn’t even noticed the anime series being added to Netflix in late 2021, but despite strong reviews, the series isn’t expected to return.
The Midnight Gospel
Canceled on Netflix: June 2022
Created by Pendleton Ward and Duncan Trussell, this experimental adult animated series takes you on journeys to trippy worlds in the show’s universe simulator. It was left field and therefore may not have reached the widest audience required to warrant a second season.
Upright
Canceled on Netflix: May 2022
The French series Upright comes from Fanny Herrero, best known for bringing the beloved Netflix to Netflix Call my agent! series. Unfortunately, despite plans for a second season, there won’t be any on Netflix.
Raising Dion
Canceled: April 2022
Premiering in October 2019, it took the show over 2.5 years for the follow-up season to hit Netflix, and sadly it didn’t do well enough to warrant a third season.
space force
Canceled: April 2022
The writing may have been on the wall for space force even before the release of the second season on Netflix. The show faced severe budget cuts and a move to Vancouver, in hopes of cutting costs.
Unfortunately, the show did not meet Netflix’s expectations according to the top 10 data, which meant that the plug was pulled at the end of April.
Smart enough
Canceled: April 2022
Premiere in October 2021, Smart enough struggled to break into the mainstream (a recurring problem for multi-camera sitcoms on Netflix) and was eventually announced to be canceled on April 27 alongside the news that Emily Osment would now be full-time on Young Sheldon.
About
Canceled: April 2022
This Netflix co-production with Canal+ in France quietly dropped on Netflix in September 2021. Unfortunately, the show didn’t have much of an impact despite Elisabeth Shue’s presence.
The show was quietly canceled and if there hadn’t been a response to an Instagram comment, we wouldn’t even have known it was canned.
Alien TV
Canceled: Unclear – reported April 2022
Running for two seasons on Netflix, the Australian-produced children’s series focuses on extraterrestrial journalists Ixbee, Pixbee and Squee.
We learned that the series is not expected to return for future episodes in early 2022. However, the series creators were keen to point out that the door is open for future episodes down the road.
Diablero
Canceled: March 2022 (although probably canceled some time ago)
The Mexican Series Diablero ran for two seasons on Netflix with the most recent season landing in 2022. Unfortunately, we exclusively learned that it won’t be returning for a third season on Netflix, which will cancel it.
Archives 81
Canceled: March 24
One of the first major shows on Netflix in 2022 was Archives 81, a new horror series based on a podcast series of the same name.
Although the show reached the top 10 on Netflix, there is evidence that the drop in viewership between episodes could have been the reason for the early demise of the show. Archives 81.
The Babysitters Club
Canceled: March 11
First launch in October 2020, The Babysitters Club came from Rachel Shukert and eventually ran for two seasons on Netflix but won’t return until a third.
In a statement to Deadline, Frank Smith of Walden Media said:
“We are extremely grateful for Netflix’s vision and support in bringing the world of The Babysitters Club to life. While we are saddened by the end of the series, we look forward to future opportunities to share the legacy of the well- loved by Ann M Martin with new audiences.
No reason was given for the cancellation, but low viewership was likely the reason.
gentified
Canceled: January 13
After undoubtedly defying the odds to access a second season, gentified was not renewed for a third season, with news of the cancellation arriving in early January 2022.
Although it entered the top 10 on Netflix TV in the United States, it only did so for 9 days before dropping out.
The comedy series told the story of three Latino cousins trying to maintain their grandfather’s dream by keeping their taco show afloat in a rapidly changing neighborhood.
Cooking with Paris
Canceled: January 17
While the biggest question is why it was given a series in the first place, it turns out there wasn’t enough of a viewership for Paris Hilton’s cooking show to warrant a second season. .
Deadline says Netflix chose not to renew Cooking with Paris for a second season despite the show appearing in the top 10 in Australia for 5 days and in Canada for just one day. It did not appear in the US top 10.
The show featured the media personality cooking simple recipes in her lavish kitchen alongside celebrity guests including Kim Kardashian West, Nikki Glaser, Demi Lovato and Lele Pons.
The series has a 5.3 on IMDb with a 34 on Metacritic.
Another life (Season 3)
Canceled: the 21st of February
It was never discussed if, and only when it was confirmed that Netflix had canceled Another life.
We can assume that the series had been abandoned by Netflix as early as December 2021, thanks to a tweet from Katie Sackhoff it strongly hinted at the fate of the series.
Despite its own loyal fan base, it shouldn’t come as too much of a surprise that Another life has been cancelled. The series failed to impress fans and critics and simply didn’t have a large enough audience for Netflix to invest more money.
