The Fund for the Promotion of Cuban Cinema favors animation projects

The State initiative to contribute to the audiovisual production of the island evaluated, on this occasion, a total of 32 projects, from which they chose three in the fiction genre and as many in the documentary.

To grant support in the Development or production category of animated short films or feature films, the jury made up of Aramís Acosta Caulineau, Mario Masvidal Saavedra and Nelson Serrano Rubio took into account artistic quality, originality, fluidity of the story and the strength of the plot. .

In this sense, ‘Nosotros’ (We), by Lisandra López Fabé stands out; ‘Viernes 13 en la Habana’ (Friday the 13th in Havana), by Raydel Ricardo Araoz; “No binario” (non-binary), by Gerar Martínez; ‘Condenado a callar’ (Condemned to silence), by José Andrés Fumero and ‘Bombas de arena’ (Sand bombs), by Keiter Castillo Santa.

Likewise, the feature films ‘Los Caídos’ (The Fallen), directed by Damián Saínz Eduardo and ‘Esencia Habana’ (Essence of Havana), by Luis Ernesto Doñas Gómez, as well as the documentary ‘Toda la vida’ (All the life), by Deymi Perdomo D´Atri, was distinguished in the first feature film category.

As reported by the Cubacine website, the production section has hosted projects from Armando Capó Ramos ‘El Regresado’ (The repatriated), Ever Miranda ‘Cubaraouis’ and Alejandro Valera Losa ‘El señor de la musica molida’ (The master ‘field’ music).

With the creation of the Fund, Cuban filmography has seen an increase in film production and the diversity of filmmakers, promoting the development of the seventh art.

The first and second calls of this initiative welcomed a total of 128 projects, of which 46 benefited from the different forms of production promoted by the Cuban Institute of Cinematographic Art and Industry, Icaic, to which are added the 11 now approved. .

The fonds covers the categories of scriptwriting, development, production and post-production of feature films, short films and first works, in the genres of fiction, documentary and animation.

Likewise, it becomes an opportunity to promote the work of women and that of the new generations, which manifested itself on this third occasion with four projects presented by women (36%) and six carried out by those under 35 ( 54%), Cubacine reports.
